George, son of Robert
Parr and Hannah Charity was born 4 January 1824 at Waterbeach,
Cambridgeshire, England. George was baptized 4 May 1828 with
sisters Emma and Lucy at the St. John the Evangelist Church at
Waterbeach. George's parents brought George and his siblings to
Ontario, Canada sometime during 1834. They settled near
Wardsville, Ontario by the 1842 census.George Parr had his picture taken at Cedar Rapids, Iowa at age 85 and
it's known that he was born at Water Beach, Cambridgeshire, England, on 4 January 1824. It
is also known that he had at least one child, Hattie, and Hattie had more that one son.
Hattie's married name was "Diehl" and two of her son's names were Edward Kenneth
and Howard Winfield. Hatties son had a picture taken at Cedar Rapids, Iowa as well,
though at a different studio. The sons picture was taken at "Kadgihn
Studio".
One wonders who George married. When George's sister Mary Ellen married, a
witness to Mary Ellen's marriage was a "Is'b Parr". Who is Isabel? Is it
possible that Isabel is George's wife? If so, then George stayed in Ontario till at least
March of 1854. Or did they return to Ontario so that George could attend his youngest
sister's wedding (unlikely in that day and age, though possible).
George's sister Emma, and her husband Josiah Dewey also
moved to Iowa. When that happened is unknown, but the outlook is looking brighter for a
better understanding of this part of the family tree. |
