This family is being researched by Gladys Toles. She may be contacted at

Harriett, daughter of Robert Parr and
Hannah Charity, was born 7 August 1932 at Waterbeach,
Cambridgeshire, England. Harriett was baptized 24
March 1833 with sister Mariah at the St. John the Evangelist Church at
Waterbeach.Harriett's parents brought Harriett and her siblings to
Ontario, Canada sometime during 1834. They settled near
Wardsville, Ontario by the 1842 census.
Harriett was married 5 June 1849 in _____________________________
(church?) at
_____________________ (city). The handwriting is not very clear as to the name of her first
husband; does it say Laurence Foles? or Lawrence Toles?
Harriett married Jerome Toles 21
November 1854 in _________________ (church?) at ________________________
(city) If Harrietts first
husband was indeed Lawrence Toles, was Jerome his brother? First cousin? Since the parents
are unknown for Lawrence and Jerome still, well have to wait for another day for an
answer. Jerome, son of ______________ Toles (father) and ________________
(mother) , was born 7 August 1832
at _____________________. (city)
Its also unclear as to which children were fathered by Harrietts first
husband, and fathered by Jerome Toles. It would be an assumption to go by the marriage
date, as to which children belong to whom! Frequently, ministers were not available when a
couple wanted to get married. Therefore, they lived together until such time as a minister
showed up - which could have been many, many months.
Harriett had 11 children; Jerome, Frederick, Duncan, Hannah J____________, Ellen, William
Arthur, George, Lucie, Franny, Mary C__________, and Nancy.

Jerome was said to have been buried at Carsonville, Michigan, and the widow Harriett moved
to her
daughter Ellen's home at Plains, Oklahoma. Harriett died from
________________ (cause) on ________________ 1904 and was buried in the
Pioneer Cemetery at Beaver, Oklahoma. The photo to the right is of
Harriett Toles (thank you Janet). |
