TOLES REUNION

This reunion started from the descendants of Jerome Toles (1825-1903) and Harriett Parr (1832-1904), though the last few reunions have been from the descendants of Jerome and Harriett's children William (1851-1914) and Jerome (1857- 1946).

On Saturday 31 July 2010 some 20 Toles cousins met for a Meet-and-Greet at Midland, Ontario Canada for good conversation and good food.  The next door neighbours were kind enough to present the evening's entertainment!

On Sunday 1 August 2010 we were off to the site at Port McNicoll, Ontario Canada where some 64 cousins were treated to the Dunk Tank challenge.  And challenge it was, as we found out that no Toles descendents are baseball pitchers of ANY note.  Through sheer number of throws, one willing child actually got wet.  It got to the point, that it was simply easier to hit the bulls eye with your hand than try to throw a baseball accurately!

The Golf Game also proved to be a challenge.  There were several drivers to chose from (left and right handed) and the goal was to hit a marshmallow the farthest.  Well, many hit it a few inches some even a few feet and 2 cousins actually hit a marshmallow some 11 feet!  The winner?  Not a cousin at all, but a father-in-law to a Toles cousin. He hit a marshmallow some 30 feet and only the neighbours garage prevented it from going any further.  There were other games of course, but those two were the memorable ones for the day.

The Pot Luck was exceptional, topped off with Richard treating everyone to Fried Turkey!  Lots of desserts made sure everyone walked (or waddled?) away from this years reunion in a well fed state.  We also left with well fed with memories of meeting our many far flung cousins once again.  Thank you Lillian and Richard for a wonderful weekend.

The farthest cousins travelled from Victoria, BC in the west and Tracadie, NB from the east.

The next Toles Reunion will be held in the summer of 2012, just south of Barrie, Ontario, Canada.  Once specific information has been organized, it will be on this web page.

TUCK REUNION

Was held on Saturday 21 August 2010 at Waverly, Ontario but alas, I had a timetable conflict and was unable to attend.  Ralph however was there and in part, this is what he had to say:

The big hit as always for the children, was riding the gaited mule 'Henry'.  The kids also played soccer and had fun with the water sprinkler.  There were lawn darts and croquet but the adults pretty much sat and visited.  Cousins travelled from as far away as Kincardine, Ontario and Iron Bridge, Ontario.

The next reunion will be held 20 August 2011at Waverly, Ontario so you can start planning now!

TUNKS REUNION

The Tunks of this research are from the descendants of Robert Tunks (1818-1906) and Mariah Parr (1829-1898).  This reunion was started by Mabel (Delisle) Tunks and the families who have attended this reunion have come from Robert and Mariah's son David (1860-1948).

The 43rd Tunks Reunion was held Sunday 15 August 2010 in the Victoria Park at Bothwell, Ontario, Canada.  There were some 48 cousins in attendance and if memory serves me the furthest travelled from Kingston, Ontario.

There were two or three sprinkles of rain during the afternoon but it was sunny and dry for almost all the afternoon.  The water balloon toss went well with over 20 taking part and just as many took up the challenge of the egg toss.  Alas, there was a loser or two with the egg toss.  The many children were entertained starting with a Piñata that proved to be tough puppy to break open, but what a scramble that ensued when it finally did!

We were treated to a wide variety of food with the Pot Luck, with Irene's famous lemon meringue pies to enjoy.

Thank you to Lynda and David for organizing the 43rd Tunks reunion.

The next Tunks Reunion is expected to be at Victoria Park at Bothwell in the summer of 2012, between Chatham and London, Ontario, Canada.  Once specific information has been organized, it will be on this web page.

WEIR REUNION

Jane Weir (1856-1935) married George Sylvester Parr (1850-1918) in 1877 for the Parr connection to the Weir family.  However, this Weir Reunion was started from the brothers John and James Weir.  Jane was the second child of John Weir.

This year's Weir Reunion edition met Sunday 18 July 2010 at the Optimist Hall at Dorchester, Ontario Canada.  Some 52 attended.

Dorothy had over one wall covered with her descendant charts, mapping where the many attendees fit into the larger picture of the Weir family.  Don also had his display of old artifacts and photos to reflect our family heritage.

The next Weir Reunion will be held once again in the Optimist Hall at Dorchester, Ontario Canada in the summer of 2012.
